Jason Pancoast, known artistically as Shadowfox, is a multidisciplinary artist based in Eugene, Oregon. With a foundation in architecture and design, his work bridges technical precision with organic emotion, transforming geometry and wood into layered reflections on the human experience.
A certified draftsman by age 17, Jason began working for an architectural firm between high school and college, where he learned the language of structure, rhythm, and spatial design. He went on to study architecture at the University of Oregon, where he first began experimenting with laser cutting as a creative tool - a practice that would later define his art.
His journey has spanned gallery ownership, national exhibitions, and public art commissions. Shadowfox has exhibited across the country, traveling to major art shows and festivals while building a dedicated following online after several of his works went viral on Reddit and social media.
His designs have been commissioned by civic and regional organizations, including the City of Eugene for custom Track & Field awards, Lane County for Sportstown Recognition Awards, and the City of Sweet Home for annual holiday ornaments. Through these collaborations, he’s helped bring design and craftsmanship into public life - celebrating community through art.
Today, Shadowfox Studio in West Eugene serves as both his creative workspace and gathering place for artists, musicians, and designers.
Each piece he creates begins as a hand drawing and evolves through layers of wood, paint, and precision cutting - a process that is both physically demanding and deeply meditative. The wood itself becomes a collaborator, its grain guiding the composition. Every sculpture carries his energy - sanded, painted, and assembled by hand - a reminder that this art is not just seen, but felt in every layer.
