Grain of Truth

Grain of Truth
What we put into the world is reflected back to us.
One of a kind piece. Charcoal on wood, acrylic mirror, walnut frame.
I’m always pushing myself on this journey of life and mastering the craft. Proud of this one.
Grain of Truth is a mixed-media work combining charcoal, laser-cut wood, mirror, and a hand-built walnut frame. The figure emerges from the natural grain, each line echoing time, memory, and growth. A heart cut into the surface reveals a mirror, inviting the viewer to see themselves within the work - a quiet exchange between what is seen and what is felt. Created during a period of loss and recovery, the piece explores how the things we hold, offer, and release are often mirrored back to us in unexpected ways. Through layers of drawing, carving, and reflection, Grain of Truth suggests that time does not erase us; it sculpts us, leaving traces of love and experience in the grain of our being.
